<title>Portainer to Dockhand: One Container Replaced Several</title>

<description>🤖 Abacus.ai -- today's sponsor! Access every major AI model in one place -- Claude, GPT, Gemini, Grok, DeepSeek, and more -- all for just $10/month. No juggling multiple subscriptions. Plus AI image generation, video generation, and the Deep Agent that can build full applications, websites, and AI pipelines. Check it out here: https://chatllm.abacus.ai/dbt Back in January I did a deep dive on Dockhand and said it looked promising but I was still running Portainer. A few weeks ago I made the switch. Not because Dockhand is better than Portainer. Because when I actually counted what I was running alongside Portainer just to get basic visibility, the decision made itself. I was running more than 20 extra containers across my homelab just for management overhead. Watchtower on every LXC and VM. Portainer on every host. Uptime Kuma for notifications. Dockhand replaced all of that with one container and agents. This video covers why I switched, what it looks like day to day, and the one thing you absolutely need to know before you migrate -- if you skip it, you could lose your data. 🔗 Original Dockhand deep dive: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-fsBCqF1HYk 🔗 Dockhand GitHub: https://github.com/dockhand/dockhand ⏱ CHAPTERS 00:00 - Why I Switched 00:39 - Sponsor: Abacus AI 02:00 - The Real Cost of Portainer 02:43 - How the Container Sprawl Adds Up 03:11 - What Dockhand Replaced 03:33 - What It Looks Like Day to Day 04:03 - The Unified Dashboard Surprise 04:48 - Notifications with Gotify 05:07 - What About Komodo? 05:54 - Is Dockhand Production Ready? 07:07 - A Few Weeks In 07:22 - The One Thing You Need to Know Before Migrating 07:35 - Docker Volumes vs Mapped Volumes 09:17 - How to Fix the Volume Issue 10:05 - Just Don't Skip the Audit 10:19 - Final Thoughts 🌐 DB TECH Website: https://dbtechreviews.com Shop: https://dbtech.dashery.com/ Discord: https://discord.gg/M9J6hFq Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/dbtech Channel Membership: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCVy16RS5eEDh8anP8j94G2A/join #selfhosted #homelab #docker #portainer #dockhand #proxmox #containers #linux /=========================================/ All My Social Links: ✅ https://dbt3.ch/@dbtech /=========================================/ ✨Ways to support DB Tech: ✅ https://www.patreon.com/dbtech ✅ https://www.paypal.me/DBTechReviews ✅ https://ko-fi.com/dbtech ✅ Cashapp: https://cash.app/$dbtechyt ✅ Venmo: https://venmo.com/dbtechyt ✨Come chat in Discord: ✅ https://dbte.ch/discord</description>
