No juggling multiple subscriptions. Plus AI image generation, video generation, and the Deep Agent that can build full applications, websites, and AI pipelines. Check it out here: https://chatllm.abacus.ai/dbt I first covered BookStack back in 2020, and I've had an instance running publicly for about five years now. It's the longest running self-hosted app I've kept online. In this video we take a fresh look at BookStack in 2026, starting with an intro from Dan Brown, the developer, explaining why he built it and how the project stays fully free and open source. Then we tour a demo instance, go through the user and admin settings, and finish with a Docker Compose install that includes SMTP for email notifications. 🔗 Links BookStack: https://www.bookstackapp.com Example Docker Compose: https://codeberg.org/bookstack/devops/src/branch/main/config/lsio-docker/docker-compose.yml SMTP/email configuration docs: https://www.bookstackapp.com/docs/admin/email-webhooks/ ⏱️ Chapters 00:00 Intro 00:19 Sponsor: ChatLLM by Abacus AI 01:30 What we're covering 01:51 Dan Brown introduces BookStack 04:55 Demo instance tour 05:38 Changing the home page view 06:17 Shelves, books, chapters, and pages 07:18 Home page sidebar options 08:29 Pages: revisions, actions, and watching 08:58 Higher security image uploads 11:16 Books view 12:43 User account settings 13:48 Password, MFA (multi-factor authentication), and API tokens 15:45 Keyboard shortcuts and notification preferences 16:43 BookStack settings: features and security 18:07 Customization 20:20 Registration 20:48 Lists and sorting 21:13 Maintenance and recycle bin 22:19 Audit log 22:47 Users and roles 24:04 Webhooks 24:33 Docker Compose walkthrough 29:44 Adding SMTP email 31:20 Final thoughts What do you use to document your homelab?
